Fascinated by the historical use of ‘portable wealth’ Ellen Murphy incorporates gold, silver, and  copper paint into small works on paper. Her paintings retain that sense of illumination. Murphy’s works engage the viewer by apportioning pieces of “wealth” into a small format.
