RAY LAGSTEIN
Improvisation and experimentation mark Lagstein’s work, both as a painter and a musician. His compositional variation, neither methodical or premeditated, are evident in his strong accents, vigorous brushstrokes and richly textured surfaces. His more recent work has taken on a more simplistic evolution, a somewhat playful relaxation and a rejection of formal constraints.
Lagstein has studied with Eleanor Grace Miller at ROCA for many years, as well as Gale Bennett, in Giverney, France, and Nigel Konstam at the Verrochio Art Center in Tuscany. He has exhibited at the Union Art Center, Sparkill, NY; Outside In Gallery, Piermont, NY; Amis Gallery, Nyack, NY; Renaissance Art Gallery, Orangeburg, NY; Blue Hill Art and Cultural Center, Pearl River, NY; Pomona Cultural Center, NY; RoCA, W Nyack, NY; Garner Arts & Industrial Ctr, Garnerville,NY.
Ray’s gallery in Nyack, NY, is dedicated to the perpetuation of fine art in all mediums, including film, animation and crafts.
